Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar arrived in Kabul on Wednesday for an important trilateral meeting. The 6th Foreign Ministers’ meeting includes Pakistan, China, and Afghanistan. Dar is joined by Special Representative for Afghanistan Ambassador Mohammad Sadiq and senior Foreign Ministry officials. The visit highlights Pakistan’s continued commitment to regional cooperation and dialogue. The meeting reflects growing efforts to boost ties among the three neighboring countries.
According to a Foreign Office statement, the talks will focus on trade, regional connectivity, and counter-terrorism cooperation. Officials aim to strengthen economic and security ties through concrete steps. The meeting will also explore ways to enhance cooperation on infrastructure and development. All three countries see this trilateral platform as key to lasting regional peace. The discussions are expected to cover both immediate challenges and long-term goals.
In addition to the trilateral meeting, Dar will hold a separate session with Afghanistan’s Acting Foreign Minister. This bilateral talk will focus on issues specific to Pakistan and Afghanistan. Both sides will explore ways to improve border management and boost economic collaboration. The goal is to address mutual concerns through diplomacy and dialogue. Stronger bilateral relations could help support broader regional goals.
At the last trilateral meeting on May 21, the three nations reaffirmed their commitment to working together. They agreed that diplomacy and practical cooperation are vital for shared growth. The leaders emphasized the importance of trade and infrastructure to drive prosperity. They also pledged to improve communication and diplomatic engagement. This partnership continues to evolve through mutual interest and shared regional goals.
The three countries also discussed deepening cooperation under China’s Belt and Road Initiative. They plan to extend the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor to Afghanistan. This expansion could open new trade routes and development opportunities. All sides believe CPEC’s extension will strengthen regional connectivity. The talks in Kabul mark another step forward in this strategic cooperation.
